From time to time everyone runs into a need to use a personal lubricant. There are a number of reasons this might be the case. For the purpose f this discussion, I would like to stick with the need for a personal lubricant in a more “traditional” type of relationship.  I do not have any issue with the gay and lesbian lifestyle, but I think there are completely different personal lubricant needs in those relationships and I am not an authority to speak about those special needs.

As people get older, there is often a need to take advantage of personal lubricants in order to maintain a healthy intimate relationship. While the desire to be sexually active is still there, sometimes the body doesn’t fully respond as needed to allow for the comfortable and close relations to occur. Personal lubricants can come to the rescue.  There are people that feel a little self-conscious about using a personal care product at such an intimate and personal moment, but there really isn’t any need to feel that way. This situation is very common for couples starting as early as forty years old. For those couples, there are a number of choices. Either water based or silicon based personal lubricants can be employed to get things going and insure nothing is lost in the closeness the couple has always felt in their loving relationship.

Other times, couples choose to use the personal lubricants to enhance their sex life. In addition to providing a comfortable and smooth lubrication for sexual activity, there are specialty lubricants that can take everything a step farther. Personal lubricants with heating or cooling properties can be employed to shake things up a bit. There are also products that can provide either a more sensitive feeling during use.

When a condom is needed, it’s a great idea to employ a little lubrication inside at the end. Not too much of course because it’s important to make sure the condom doesn’t slip off. But having a little product inside provides some extra sensation that gives the person using the condom a better experience during lovemaking.

Personal lubricants can come as either liquid based or gel based. For most couples, liquid based is the answer.  That isn’t to say that people can’t have an enjoyable experience with a gel-based product. Liquid based is a little easier to use for activities that are primarily skin-to-skin.  Gel-based products work very well with toys since the gel won’t run or drip off after application to the toy being used.

When choosing a personal lubricant, there are a number of things to consider. Many people simply pick the one that cost the least and move on.  There really is a difference between the low cost products and the premium brands. It’s very important to consider all the ingredients. Does the lubricant you are choosing have parabens? Is it hypoallergenic? Are there any ingredients that will cause skin irritation later or with prolonged use. Consider the company behind the lubricants. What is their commitment to the development and production of the personal care products they deliver?  Do they practice good ethics during development, production and delivery? There is a company that can give positive answers to all those questions and worth a look for your intimate care products.
